Professor of Whatever-I-Want

Sunday, May 11, 2008

When I was young and I asked my mother how come she could teach Freud even though she was an English professor she replied, “I’m tenured, I can teach whatever I want!”. And since then she has only been proving this over again each semester! Each item on this card represents something she’s researched and written about, scissors for Dadaism, the bicycle wheel for Duchamp, the cow spots for visual Dorothy Cross, the Chris Ware square for graphic novels, Freud for psychoanalysis, and Burroughs for her first 2 books!
